At Tai Calon, we’re committed to positively impacting our community. One of the ways we do this is through our Brighter Futures Fund, a program designed to support local initiatives that bring about meaningful change. Steven Wetten, our Customer Engagement Coordinator, has been out presenting the cheques for the much-needed funding to our deserving grant recipients.
Steve’s first stop on this heart-warming journey was the Waundeg and Nantybwch Community Association. This vibrant community group received a cheque for £3860 to support the newly established group kick start great work within their community! This funding will enable the group to help tenants and residents of the area, provide a warm hub. The hub promises to be where neighbours can gather, connect, and support one another, especially during the colder months. It’s all about enhancing the quality of life for everyone in the neighbourhood, and we’re proud to be part of this initiative. The hub will also be a space where children can attend different events and activities, giving them a safe space to play and learn.
Next, Steve visited Special Movers, an organisation that promotes healthy living and provides essential mental health support for children and young people with disabilities. We presented them with a grant of £500 to further their vital work.
This funding will enable Special Movers to expand their programs and reach even more individuals who need support. In a world where mental health and well-being are paramount, this organisation is making a significant difference, and we’re honoured to stand beside them in their mission. Steve also spoke to Chris Nottingham, Tai Calon’s sustainable food coordinator, about the group with the aim of Chris being on hand to support the group.
Beaufort Male Voice Choir has received £2,000 to recruit younger members and provide mentorship. At the same time, One Life Autism Support Group has been awarded £3,000 to assist families through diagnoses and mental health challenges, including organising a Christmas Lunch for hard-pressed families dealing with disabilities.
Steve’s final visit was to the RTB Ebbw Vale Junior Football Club, where he had the privilege of awarding them £2,000. This generous grant will be a game-changer for the Junior Football team as they strive to develop their youth squads. Football is more than just a sport; it’s a platform for teaching valuable life skills like teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. By investing in the youth squads, we’re investing in the future of our community, fostering talent and passion for the game. Whilst Steve visited RTB during a training session held on Cwm field he noted how amazing it was to see so many children of all different ages taking part. They were laughing and talking amongst themselves and the respect the children showed for their coaches was truly inspiring.
We want to extend our sincere gratitude to all the organisations applying for the Brighter Futures Fund. Your dedication to improving our community is truly inspiring.
We are excited to see these projects impact our community as we look ahead. These grants are not just financial support; they are a vote of confidence in these organisations’ incredible work. We can’t wait to witness the positive changes they will bring about.
Stay tuned for updates on these projects as they progress. Together, we are building a brighter future for all.
