Tai Calon Community Housing is thrilled to welcome new residents to their modern, energy-efficient homes in the heart of Ebbw Vale.
The Glanffrwd development, delivered in partnership with Willis Construction, offers a range of sustainable homes that reflect the latest Welsh housing standards.
Richard Hopkins, Interim Chief Executive of Tai Calon, shared, “It’s a joy to see these homes becoming part of the community, providing modern, comfortable spaces where families can truly thrive.”
The Glanffrwd project has been an outstanding success, and the completed homes have exceeded all expectations, surpassing even the initial CGI designs.
This new community includes a variety of housing types to meet diverse needs:
- 10 two-bedroom homes for four people
- 3 three-bedroom homes for five people
- 2 four-bedroom homes for six people
- 4 two-bedroom bungalows for three people
- 4 one-bedroom walk-up flats for two people
Each home meets the Welsh Development Quality Requirements (WDQR 2021) and is designed with inclusivity and sustainability at the forefront. These homes feature EPC-A ratings, high-level insulation, electric heating, photovoltaic panels, and storage batteries, making them ready for a sustainable future.
Tai Calon is particularly proud of the project’s local impact. The closed-panel timber frames were manufactured locally in Nantyglo, Blaenau Gwent, showcasing local craftsmanship and supporting the area’s economy.
As Tai Calon continues its mission to develop sustainable and affordable homes, it remains open to partnerships that align with its values of social value, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.
