We have helped ensure that Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council can provide all residents with a FREE pest control service to combat domestic rat infestations.

We have provided financial assistance to the local Council. Hence, they can offer a free pest control service to combat domestic rat infestations in partnership with Rentokil Pest Control. Pest control is important to us as we receive many complaints from Tenants regarding rats and other pests.

Residents of Blaenau Gwent who are entitled to the following benefits will receive a 50% reduction in the cost for the treatment of mice, bedbugs, cockroaches and fleas as long as they live at the home where the treatment takes place:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income support
  • Council tax reduction
  • Working or child tax income credit
  • Job seeker’s allowance (income-based)
  • Housing Benefit

The pest control service operates from Monday to Friday between 8.30 am and 5 pm but not on public holidays.

Pests they treat include:

  • Rats (Rat treatments are free of charge for all domestic premises)
  • Mice
  • Bedbugs
  • Cockroaches
  • Fleas
  • Black garden ants
  • Cluster fly
  • House crickets, firebrats & silverfish
  • Textile moth
  • Wasps nests

When a pest control operative visits to treat rats, there are potentially three courses of action:

  • Rats identified- toxic bait set to treat an infestation
  • No active rat infestation identified- non-toxic bait set to identify a possible infestation
  • The operative is returning to collect any unconsumed toxic bait
