Tai Calon Community Housing’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) was a huge hit this year, and it wasn’t your typical formal affair. This time, the meeting took place at the cosy Hilltop Log Cabin in Ebbw Vale on Monday, September 16th, 2024. The warm, community-focused atmosphere made it the perfect spot for residents, board members, and tenants to reflect on the year’s achievements and dive into exciting plans for the future.

Before the official meeting started, attendees got to roll up their sleeves and join a soup-making session. Laughter, delicious smells, and teamwork filled the air as everyone worked together to create tasty soups. To top it off, every participant walked away with a free blender to continue their soup-making fun at home.

During the AGM, the Board Chair and Chief Executive updated everyone on Tai Calon’s achievements over the past year, highlighting the community’s growth and the challenges they overcame. Reviewing last year’s AGM minutes ensured transparency and clarity for all attendees.

A highlight of the event was introducing and recognising the dedicated Board Members who guide Tai Calon’s success. Returning members Mr Ian Hughes, Mr Michael Santon, and Professor Sir Adrian Webb were welcomed back, along with Mr Neil Harries and Mr Abhishek Vyas. The community also greeted new member Mrs Sian Nicholas, whose passion and commitment to the local area promise fresh energy.

Tai Calon continues to prioritise tenant representation, with Ms Gemma Badham continuing her excellent work as a Tenant Board Member. Local Authority Members Ms Sonia Behr and Ms Ellen Jones will continue strengthening the connection between Tai Calon and the community, ensuring that local voices remain central to the organisation’s mission.

The AGM also included a heartfelt farewell to Ms. Jenny White, a valued member of the Board. The community deeply appreciated her contributions and wished her the best in her future endeavours.

The AGM highlighted exciting future plans that will continue to positively impact the community. With this vibrant mix of new and returning Board members, Tai Calon is well-positioned for another year of growth and progress.

For those unable to attend in person, proxy forms ensured that every voice could still be heard, reinforcing Tai Calon’s commitment to inclusivity.

Overall, the AGM was a resounding success, marking another step forward for the Tai Calon community. We’re excited for the journey ahead and can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the coming year!
